Prepare to be a leader, servant, and mentor for individuals from birth through high school while studying for a Youth, Children, and Family Studies degree.
At North Central University, students pursuing a Youth, Children, and Family Studies degree will learn to plan and implement youth-centered curriculum as well as how to develop vibrant, Christ-centered youth, children, and family ministries in a variety of settings. Throughout this program, our students will be immersed in personal spiritual formation, building a repertoire and network that they can take into their career post-graduation.
Due to North Central University’s tight-knit Christian community and spiritual environment, being located in the heart of Minneapolis allows for a multitude of opportunities to not only minister to the people around you, but to receive essential coaching and leadership from professors who deeply care about their students as godly and strategic future leaders and individuals.
The Pastoral Studies department allows students enrolled in the Youth, Children, and Family Studies major focuses on developing, leading, training, and raising up youth and children’s leaders with a heart to make a difference in the lives of the youth around them. A hunger for learning, both academically and spiritually, will allow individuals to grow, and experience active learning in what is taught inside and outside of the classroom.
Students will have the opportunity within their internships with local churches to create an environment that will grow them spiritually, academically, and personally. This will give an insight into God-given passions, talents and help prepare for a fulfilling career path.
Experience a trip to the Holy Lands where students can visit the ancient sites in both Israel and Jordan. Numerous once in a lifetime experiences including lectures from some of the leading scholars and archeologists in Israel will not only enrich your Biblical knowledge, but enhance the classroom learning experience. Information about this trip can be found at The Center for Holy Lands Studies.
North Central University students have opportunities to get connected within their local communities and practice relationships and discipleship with their peers.
I love being a Children, Youth & Family Studies major because the program gives you the practical skills, spiritual development and Biblical literacy needed to be an effective ministry leader.
