President Scott Hagan, Ph.D., today notified members of the North Central University Class of 2020 and the December Class of 2019 via email that the planned in-person Commencement ceremony on Dec. 12 has been changed to a virtual event due to continued concerns about the spread of COVID-19. His message to students included a personal video message.
The virtual Commencement celebration to honor and acknowledge graduates will be on the same date, Dec.12. Details are being finalized and will be communicated at northcentral.edu/commencement in the next few weeks.
In an email sent to each graduate, President Hagan said, “When we announced this date last May, we were hopeful we would not be battling this pandemic on a large scale so many months into the future; but we have all learned that the COVID playbook is anything but predictable.”
As the university explored all possible options to still hold the ceremony, it became clear that cancellation was the correct course of action due to current Minnesota restrictions on large gatherings and the risk to families and individuals coming together in a large group setting.
President Hagan offered encouragement to the class and said, “The Class of 2020 will forever be etched in my heart as a class of winners and warriors who will rise up—because you have learned that it is not the circumstances around you but the courage within you that will determine the trajectory of your life.”
Graduates are encouraged to update their alumni profiles to receive timely information about the virtual Commencement celebration.
