The Board of Regents and administration of North Central University are pleased to announce Thompson “Tommy” Briggs as recipient of the 2020 Regent’s Scholarship.
Briggs is a 2020 graduate of Faith Christian Academy in Orlando, Florida, and plans to major in Global Studies.
Along with his family, Briggs has been active in Faith Assembly and Faith Christian Academy in Orlando for 13 years. He was heavily involved in sports, scholastic endeavors, church ministries, fine arts, and mission trips throughout his academic career.
Pursuing Excellence
Briggs has shown his leadership capabilities on the sports field, on the pulpit, and in school. As the recipient of many academic, faith, and sporting awards, Thompson pursues excellence in all he does. He is young leader who has demonstrated hard work, discipline, and humility. He says that remaining rooted in his faith is a top priority.
Defining Moments
From the time he accepted Jesus into his heart for the first time at the age of four, to now planning to attend North Central University, Briggs has experienced several defining moments in his faith. He has served on a mission team in Haiti, preached a message at the Assemblies of God National Fine Arts competition, and learned to hear the voice of God from a young age. Briggs sees these defining moments as preparation for a lifetime of serving God. He believes that North Central University will be the best environment to continue grow spiritually and intellectually.
Bethany Harshbarger, Executive Director of Enrollment, affirmed Briggs’ selection for this honor. “Tommy has a bright future and we know that North Central will be impacted by his presence on campus,” Harshbarger said. “He’s demonstrated both academic excellence and a clear response in his extracurricular activities to God’s call on his life.”
The Regent’s Scholarship is a full-tuition, four-year scholarship awarded to an entering freshman based on superior academic performance, references, and a written essay.
