Position Purpose

Position Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health and Physical Education (PE) Methods Instructor to teach a course on effective strategies for delivering health and physical education to elementary students. This position is focused on preparing pre-service elementary educators with the knowledge and skills needed to promote healthy lifestyles, physical activity, and well-being in young children. The ideal candidate is passionate about elementary education, knowledgeable in health and PE best practices, and skilled in developing engaging, age-appropriate curricula.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and teach a methods course focused on health and physical education for elementary-level pre-service teachers.
  • Instruct students on effective teaching strategies, lesson planning, and instructional techniques that foster an active and healthy lifestyle among elementary-aged children.
  • Design and assess course content that aligns with state and national standards in health and physical education.
  • Model instructional best practices, classroom management, and assessment techniques in health and PE.
  • Incorporate current trends, research, and innovations in health and physical education within the course.
  • Encourage and support students in understanding the developmental needs of elementary learners and how to tailor health and physical activity programs accordingly.
  • Promote and educate students on the importance of inclusivity, adaptability, and safety in health and PE settings.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student assignments and classroom practices.

Pay Information

  • $850 per credit with Masters
  • $1,000 per credit with Doctorate

Job qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Teaching certification in health or physical education.
  • Master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching health and/or physical education, at the elementary level.
  • Prior experience teaching pre-service educators or adults is highly desirable.
