Position purpose

The Service Desk Tech position serves as the primary customer contact representative for the Information Technology Department, within the Service Desk, to several groups of people including students, alumni, staff, and faculty. This job offers on-site training and a great opportunity to grow technical skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Maintain and manage records of user requests in the ticketing software by tracking calls and other requests to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Answer calls promptly in a professional manner and greet in-person patrons.
  • Provide technical support to users via telephone, email, and in-person.
  • Setup, configure, and deploy computers and software to users.
  • Other miscellaneous technology-related tasks.

Required qualifications/skills

  • Currently enrolled student at NCU.
  • Skill in delivering proactive, quality customer-orientated service.
  • Skill in listening and interpreting user problem descriptions.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, while independently seeking ways to organize and improve department operations.
  • Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions and the ability to follow through on details.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts among various group members.
  • Ability to respect the confidentiality of information present on supported systems.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of computer and its functions is a bonus.

Additional comments

  • Multiple positions available between Monday through Thursday 7:30am – 9:00pm Friday 7:30am-5:00pm 
  • Continuous onsite technical training will be provided.
  • Will be required to comfortably lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
