Position Purpose
The University Mental Health Therapist is responsible to provide a variety of services to assist students in their development process by providing and overseeing short-term, psychotherapeutic interventions, including but not limited to; clinical counseling, group therapy, risk assessment, case management, career development and educational resources.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
(65%) Provide short-term psychotherapy and oversight of clinical interns
- Provide individual therapy in mental health and personal development issues
- Construct and carry out treatment planning to assist in student success
- Provide diagnostic assessments and risk assessments
- Maintain current referral resources and relationships
- Provide referrals off campus and supportive counseling for continuity of care.
- Facilitate psychosocial, psychoeducational, & therapeutic groups as needed
- Coordinate and present mental health education workshops.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote health and wellness
(20%) Maintain therapeutic services records
- Maintain necessary clinical records, update forms, policies and procedures
- Update therapeutic services information on all internal and external websites as
needed - Provide reports to various areas of the University as needed
(10%) Career Development Counseling
- Assist students seeking counseling related to life-calling and career development goals
- Provide counseling interpretations of career inventories and career personality
assessments as needed - Assist the Student Success Center team in supporting students in career related
services - Provide oversight for clinical interns to practice and experience career-related counseling
activities with students seeking support
(5%) Assist the Director of Student Success Center with various special projects to
further unify the team and to accomplish necessary large-scale tasks
- Provide training in areas of expertise for various student, staff and faculty groups
- Provide support and/or participate during special events, i.e. New Student
Orientation, Retreats, Seminars, Momentum Week
Job Qualifications
Minimum Education and experience
- Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Minnesota license eligible/in process or preferred LPC/LPCC, LP, LICSW.
- At least two years’ experience in clinical work with adolescents and/or young adults and higher education or milieu treatment.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Experience providing short-term individual and group therapy, crisis
intervention, outreach, and consultation services - Experience with clients with complex and severe psychopathology
- Ability to handle complicated, fast-pasted clinical situations
- Proficiency in suicide and homicide risk assessment and intervention
- Familiarity with college-age normative development
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team for the purpose of wrap around
support and continuity of care - Computer/technological competence
- Highest standards of maintaining confidentiality
- Candidates should also be committed to establishing active relationships
with the campus community; be team-oriented and collaborative with
students, colleagues, and Colleges stakeholders; have broad generalist
clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders,
concerns, and degrees of pathology; and have experience in a college
counseling center setting. - Ability to coordinate multiple projects

details given - Ability to handle multiple people and their needs while maintaining
personal health and wellness

Environmental Conditions
- Daily exposure to repetitive motions of the fingers, hands and wrists.
- Position is located in an urban, Christ-centered environment.
Equipment and Tools
- Use of a PC and telephone, photocopier and facsimile machine approximately 95% of the workday
